're joined by anna marie cox of "the guardian" and jonathan capehart of the "washington post." >> anna marie, mrs. romney has expressed concerns about her husband's mental well-being, but do you get the feeling that perhaps there's more to this than she's saying? >> well, martin, i actually think this is sort of one area where i'm hesitant to mock too much. >> i'm not asking to you mock. i'm asking to you serious question. i'm not asking you to mock. his wife has said and volunteered that her number one concern for her husband is his mental health and mental well-being. i'm asking you do you think that she knows things about him that provoke that kind of concern? >> well, i mean, i think she has seen him operate under very stressful conditions. to all appearances he seems to do well under stressful conditions in the sense he has had a business career where, you know, he was dealing with lots of money and dealing with lots of different demands and he succeeded. so there's that. but, you know, campaign and politics are very different than business, which is what we've been saying all you a lon

legislation against human trafficking. a new report suggests the stalemate is not purely political. jonathan serrie live in atlanta. what is at stake, jonathan. >> reporter: congressional quarterly reports that much of the standoff is over a disagreement on women's health issues. in the past republicans and democrats were able to achieve consensus on this when they passed this law originally in 2000 and then reauthorized it three times since. it's the trafficking victims protection act. it imposes stiff federal penalties on traffickers and funds perhaps programs to assist police and prosecutors as well as victims. advocates say the law has to be updated every few years to adapt to the changing methods of the traffickers and continue funding efforts to catch them and they their victims. rule vision a christian organization that supports humanitarian projects, including this recovery center for children rescued from trafficking in cambodia is concerned about what will happen if congress fails to act. listen. >> this is going to have a real impact on innocent lives here in the u.s. and across t

. still at least one key sector is showing signs of improvement. jonathan serrie has that. he is live from atlanta. jonathan? >> reporter: hi, jon. auto manufacturing has certainly become a bright spot in the u.s. economy responding to increased consumer demand. carmakers, both foreign and domestic, are adding literally thousands of jobs to their u.s. plants. in addition to new highs they're also bringing back some experienced workers who were laid off during the recession. although some of these experienced workers may find it's not exactly the same job when it comes to payday. listen. >> the benefits packages have definitely been lower and a lot of those plants are not unionized. so that has been some of the discussion. uaw has been interested in unionizing some of those plants. so far all of them have resisted. >> reporter: even union shops have agreed to lower pay and benefits as part of the restructuring of the big three automakers but the increase in auto manufacturing jobs is expected to have multiplier effect in other parts of the economy. the center for automotive research estimat
